Don’t Be Ashamed of the Bible

But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.” Job 28:12
Introduction:
History properly studied is truly the study of the grand purposes of God with men and nations.  It is evident therefore, that the proper study of history can be made only upon the basis of the word of God – the Bible.

The philosophy of the Bible is the philosophy of History.  The philosophy of sin and salvation is the philosophy of the Bible.  Therefore, the philosophy of sin and salvation is the philosophy of History. This is further evidenced by the fact that if there had never been any sin, the history of this world as it has been, would never have been at all.

It follows that the true beginning of the study of history must be with the beginning of sin, not only in this world, but the beginning of sin where sin began. But none but the Wisdom of God knows this. Nothing but the inspiration of God can give it. Nothing but the revelation of God contains it.
The Bible is the beginning of history and it is the sure guide in the study of history.

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1: 16, 17

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, …and is a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4: 12

There have always been heated discussions regarding the authenticity of the Bible, what has been added or deleted, questioning the validity of its written words, etc. In the mix of this is an arch apostate, Satan, who counterfeits and seeks to cast doubt and disbelief upon the word of God. God has always been consistent and we can trust that He has preserved His word through the history of this world; from creation, the confusion of tongues, the great empires and to our present time. Why doubt that this is possible, when God says clearly in His word, that there is nothing impossible with Him. Matthew 19: 26; Mark 10: 27; Luke 1: 37; Luke 18: 27.
There are many bibles that have come into print but many are just commentaries of ideas and thoughts.
The authorized versions of the King James Version (KJV) and the new revised version (NKJV) have stood the test of time.

Every objection cannot be answered neither will we attempt to do so. However, there is enough evidence to prove that the bible is the most authentic document in existence.

The bible has proven to be an anvil that has worn out many hammers.  In fact, France came with many sledge hammers during the period of the French Revolution and Diocletian, a Roman Emperor in 303AD by royal edict demanded the burning of all bibles, but the bible still stands as an enduring testimony to the endurance of God’s written word.

  • Voltaire, the noted French infidel, who died in 1778, predicted that within 100 years after his death Christianity and the Bible would be extinct. God must have a great sense of humor. Only twenty-five years after his death, the British and Foreign Bible Society was founded, and the very presses Voltaire used to print his atheistic literature were used to print the Bible (Thiessen, Lectures in Systematic Theology; page 85). More and more we find individuals going to social media to find answers to the questions of this life from individuals who are as fallible as themselves.  The word of God “is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalms 119: 105

Again, the question is asked, “But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?”

The Bible testifies to the power of God’s word in how it has not only survived through all ages since it was printed, but its influence cannot be denied or overstated.  From Kings to peasants, Presidents to citizens, Pastors to laymen, this one book above all others is enduring because God has set it to be the repository of His written word to mankind. It is His guide of freedom to us as how to live without sin in a revolted world, where we find God’s unconditional love for humanity and for us to know who He is.

Though the cover is worn,
And the pages are torn,
And though places bear traces of tears,
Yet more precious than gold,
Is the Book, worn and old,
That can shatter and scatter my fears.

When I prayerfully look,
In this precious old Book,
Many pleasures and treasures I see,
Many tokens of love,
From the Father above,
Who is nearest and dearest to me.

This old Book is my guide,
Tis a friend on my side,
It lightens and brighten my way,
And each promise I find
soothes and gladdens my mind
As I read it and heed it today.

To this book I will cling,
Of its worth will I sing,
Though great losses and crosses be mine;
For I cannot despair,
Though surrounded by care,
While possessing this blessing Divine – Anonymous

Thank you Rickey for your comment on that particular blog topic. I am Judy (jay4jesus) and my sister and I manage this site. We relocated last year out of the USA and it was a major move which disrupted the posting of some blog articles. We apologize. We are hoping to get back on track.
